What causes periodontal disease?
Periodontal disease results from inflammation of the gums caused by accumulated plaque and tartar. Gum inflammation is characterized by a change in the normal color of the gums from pink to red and the presence of bleeding, which can occur during brushing or even spontaneously.
Chronic inflammation of the gums leads to loss of the bone that supports the teeth, leading to the appearance of tooth mobility and subsequently the loss of dental pieces.
